Minutes of the Oak Terrace Improvement Association – October 6, 2021

The October 6, 2021 OTIA meeting was held at the Countryside Fire Station.

Board members present were Nancy Krejsa, William Yarbrough, Ramona Triebold, Rich Rieck, James Harms, Alfonso Contreras, Jeff Kehr, Lisa Brickert and Kevin Shifley.

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by Vice President, Nancy Krejsa.

A motion to approve and waive the reading of the August 4, 2021 meeting minutes was made by Jeff Kehr and seconded by Rich Rieck. The motion passed.

William Yarbrough delivered the Treasurer’s report. As of August 31, 2021 OTIA had $37,388 of Operating Funds, $22,173 of cash in Reserves and $9,017 of outstanding accounts receivable. Total assets equaled $68,578. Approximately 6-8 accounts comprise most of the delinquent receivables and the board will need to decide the timing as to next steps in the collection process. A motion was made by Alfonso Contreras to accept the treasurer’s report as presented and seconded by James Harms. The motion passed.

Next the board discussed having guest speakers at the 2021 annual meeting, which will be held November 3, 2021.  It was decided we should reach out to Diana O’Kelly – Township Supervisor, Alicia Dodd – Highway Commissioner, Ron Salski – Executive Director Mundelein Park District, and the local Fire Marshall with Countryside Fire Department to provide updates at our annual meeting. Nancy Krejsa agreed to work with Ken Hohs to reach out to these people.

A discussion then occurred regarding needed maintenance for our parks. It was noted that the sign at Sunset Park has fallen down and needs repair. The angle iron for the walkway by the boat launch is also broken and needs repair.  Rich Rieck agreed to address both items.

The board then discussed garbage cans at Lakeview Park.  Rich Rieck agreed to donate a garbage bin that can be placed near the top of the hill for members to use while at the park. The board also agreed that during the winter, the garbage can at Beach Park could be placed outside the gate since the gates are typically unlocked for snowmobile access to the lake.

With regards to Old Business, now that the August 4, 2021, meeting minutes were approved, William can arrange to have both Colleen Hodges and Greg Denny removed from the association’s checking account and add current board members Ken Hohs and Nancy Krejsa.

There being no further business before the Board, Rich Rieck made a motion to adjourn the meeting and James Harms seconded the motion.  The motion passed and the meeting was adjourned at 7:34pm.

The next OTIA meeting, which is also the date of the Annual Meeting, will be November 3, 2021at 7:00 p.m. at the Countryside Fire Department.

Respectfully submitted by Nancy Krejsa, Vice President
