Minutes of the Oak Terrace Improvement Association- June 1, 2016 Board

members present: Tracy Kleinschmidt, Colleen Hodges, William Yarbrough, Jim Loring, Al Johnsonbaugh, Krissy Snyder, Kevin Shifley, Jeff Keske, and Ramona Triebold.

Members at large present: Ken Hohs, Ana and Alfonso Contreras.

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Al Johnsonbaugh at 7:12pm.

Minutes- William made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes.

Ramona seconded and the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report- Ramona reported that the new checking account overseen by Canty and Associates is up and running. We do not have a full financial report as not all funds have been deposited and no funds from Consumer’s Credit Union have been transferred to the new account yet. We are hoping that this process will be completed by the August meeting.

Presently, Ramona is handling the distribution of key fobs for Beach Park and Greg Denny is handling key rental for the boat ramp. It was requested that all old boat ramp keys be returned to Greg as soon as possible.

Committees

Lake Issues- Tracy shared that the lake was treated for invasive species of plant life according to the original timeline laid out by the treatment company. The lake was treated on Friday, May 27, 2016. Some areas that were not originally on the map drawn for treatment by Lake County were added for treatment. These areas included spots by the townhouses near Lakeview Park and our channel. There will need to be a second application for these areas. Tracy and Greg toured the lake by our shoreline and it was not too overgrown at that time. The most troublesome issue was filamentous algae. It was suggested that that be raked out of the water. The West Shore area of the lake was seeing a far worse bloom of all invasive species. Mundelein Park and Recreation District did do some harvesting, but the plant material was left in the water. This is not a proper harvest. Also, the chemical used was not the one recommended by our treatment management plan. The Diamond Lake Preservation Alliance will address these issues with MPRD at their next meeting.

Parks- Al reported that he has signed a contract with the lowest bidder, Golden Fence, to complete the installation of the fence at Beach Park at a cost of $4,550. This section will delineate between the beach property and the homeowner’s property adjacent to Beach Park. Dave Garcia has been contracted to remove all the bushes within the fence borders, but will keep the bushes from the fence to the road intact. Al also shared that the dying trees at Sunset are still in need of removal.

Restoration Areas- Jim reported that we are in the first year of our three year contract for the care of these areas. One application for invasive species of plant life in the wetlands has been applied this year.

Legal- We are waiting for our financial accounts to stabilize before proceeding with further collection procedures.

Summerfest- Saturday, August 20th was chosen for the celebration of the 70th Annual Summerfest. Colleen will handle all rentals, catering, and pre-day setup. Krissy will handle the day-of set-up and clean up of the event. We will need to solicit volunteers to help with the events of that day.

There being no further business before the Board, Jim made a motion to adjourn.

William seconded and the meeting adjourned at 7:50pm. Respectfully submitted by Colleen Hodges- OTIA Secretary
