Minutes from the Oak Terrace Improvement Association Board Meeting-May 7, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:08pm by President Greg Denny.

Board members present-Greg Denny, Jim Loring, Dan Griffin, William Yarbrough, Colleen Hodges, Ramona Triebold, and Dina Lepczynski.

Ramona Triebold made a motion to accept the minutes as reported.  Jim Loring seconded and the motion passed.

Treasurer Dan Griffin reported a total of $32,819 in all accounts.  He also reported that S629 was spent for new buoys in the swim area (3) and “No Wake” buoys for Lakeview Park (2).  A motion to accept the treasurer’s report, as reported, was made by Jim Loring and seconded by Ramona Triebold.  The motion passed.

It was reported that ILM, Integrated Lake Management, would be handling the burns at all three parks.

Stairway removal was discussed.  The board has requested that two more bids be obtained, along with the one from DG Hardscapes.  Ramona Triebold made a motion that we go with the lowest of the three bids and William Yarbrough seconded.  The motion passed.

The notice about land encroachment went out to the homeowners on Willow affected by this issue.  To date, we have not heard from the Welle family.

Mundelein Park and Recreation District received bids from several companies for the treatment of the lake, including our portion.  ILM has won the bid.  The treatment will be applied on Friday May 9, 2014.  An email notice will be sent to residents.  ILM will place notices at the parks.  It will take 21 days for the treatment to dissipate, but the water is potable within 7 days.

Greg shared some information about a channel being dredged in Tower Lakes.  He will do some investigating as to the cost and process of this type of hydraulic dredging of sediment for future reference.  He estimates that our channel has about 2 feet of sediment at this time and will need to go through this process at some point to keep it viable.

The dates for the Oak Terrace Community Garage Sale have been set for June 20, 21, and 22.  Dina will handle publicity.

The Hansen Park signs have been ordered and will be mounted soon.

It was reported that the post for the Oak Street sign has split.  Also, the posts need to be painted this summer.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Jim Loring and seconded by William Yarbrough.  The meeting adjourned at 7:57pm.

Respectfully submitted by Colleen Hodges-OTIA Secretary
